Twenty Five Years Annely Juda Fine Art / Juda Rowan Gallery

17 September–20 December 1985

Summer was approaching and each year, since 1970, we have mounted an important historical exhibition. What should we do this year, 1985? Suddenly it became clear that we, Annely Juda and Alex Gregory-Hood had spent almost a lifetime in gallery work and for me it was 25 years since I had started the Molton Gallery in 1960, went on to the Hamilton Galleries in 1963 and finally emerged in 1968 as Annely Juda Fine Art. The changes I have witnessed over these 25 years have been enormous. A variety of artists and art have passed through the galleries and finally a face, a kind of being has emerged which has its own life, its own force, its own identity.

The exhibition this year is a combined effort. On the Annely Juda Fine Art side we are showing important historical paintings, on the Juda Rowan Gallery side contemporary works from the three decades, the Sixties, the Seventies, and the present decade, the Eighties. Each month we will be exhibiting the work of one decade. [...] - Exhibition catalogue introduction by Annely Juda and Alex Gregory-Hood
