Gallery Assistant

We are seeking a junior, full-time member of staff to carry out administrative and online responsibilities.  The applicant must have an interest in and experience of the workings of a commercial gallery.  Good administrative skills are a pre-requisite along with experience of database management and experience of successfully running social media accounts.  As a member of a small team, the role is varied and requires someone with flexibility coupled with enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

Maintaining the gallery’s contact and artwork database (digital and paper form)
Maintaining the gallery’s image database and preparing image files
Maintaining the gallery’s online presence on various platforms (website/artsy/artnet/social media)
Front desk duties including greeting members of the public / artists / clients, answering and directing calls and managing pamphlets/press releases available to visitors
Some email correspondence on behalf of the Director
Assistance with staff travel planning
Preparation of materials for Art Fairs (ipads/image files/stationery)
Recording auction results and managing art fair catalogues
Maintaining provenance sheets and artists’ biographies
Maintaining the gallery’s extensive book library
Working at private views 5-6 times per year
Research projects on an ad hoc basis          

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 6pm
Some Saturdays with a day in lieu
