David Hockney: Yosemite at the Heard Museum
6 March 2020
The exhibition David Hockney: Yosemite at the Heard Museum is the first showing of the artist's work in Arizona. It highlights the impact that Yosemite has had on artistic production over time, including on the indigenous inhabitants of the area. Amongst Hockney’s photographic collages and iPad drawings are examples of Mono Lake Paiute and Miwok basketry from the early 20th century. This combination of historical craft and contemporary art is an exploration of how technology can be implemented in artistic creation, from the skills used in traditional basketry to the use of an advanced tablet, the iPad.
Exhibition runs until 5th April 2020
