Anthony Caro began his Table Pieces in 1966, numbering them sequentially using Roman numerals. Unlike his floor-based sculptures, which were made in his studio, the table pieces were made at home in his garage. They are celebrated for their free-spirited, almost drawing-like quality, marked by a remarkable freedom of gesture and experimentation.
Several of Caro’s table pieces are in public collections around the world, including Centre Pompidou Paris, MoMA New York, Tate London and The Courtauld Gallery London.
