Nicola Turner, Klipp Und Klapp – Winner of The Academy Award, sponsored by the RWA (Royal West of England Academy) and RWA Academicians.

The Klipp Und Klapp title is from Der Struwwelpeter by Hoffman, which haunted me as a child! In the Story of the Thumb Sucker he writes:

Bauz! da geht die Türe auf,
und herein in schnellem Lauf
springt der Schneider in die Stub
zu dem Daumen-Lutscher-Bub.
Weh! jetzt geht es klipp und klapp
mit der Scher die Daumen ab,
mit der großen, scharfen Scher!
Hei! da schreit der Konrad sehr.

Translation:

Buzz! The door opens,
and in, running quickly,
the tailor jumps into the room
to the thumb-sucking boy.
Alas! Now it's time to cut off
the thumbs with the scissors,
with the big, sharp scissors!
Hey! Konrad screams loudly.

Der Struwwelpeter is an 1845 German children's book written and illustrated by Heinrich Hoffmann. It comprises ten illustrated and rhymed stories, mostly about children. Each cautionary tale has a clear moral lesson that demonstrates the disastrous consequences of misbehavior in an exaggerated way.
