The notebook Anthony Hill, Recent Constructions (Collection A, 1954–1962) indicates that four interpretations of this theme have existed, of which this is identified as ‘B: mounted on black cobex, exh. Recent Constructions ICA, coll. Adrian Hill'. Presumably the work was given to Hill's father Adrian, and reverted to Hill on his father's death.
