Xavier Hufkens added to galleries representing the Estate of Leon Kossoff

Annely Juda Fine Art is delighted to announce that Xavier Hufkens has joined the group of galleries representing the Estate of Leon Kossoff.  The Estate will continue to be represented by Annely Juda Fine Art (London), Mitchell-Innes & Nash (New York), and L.A. Louver (Los Angeles).

One of Britain’s most acclaimed painters of modern times, Kossoff is recognised for his highly worked and gestural impasto paintings and his striking and expressive drawings in charcoal, pastel, and graphite.  Kossoff was a key figure in the group of artists who became known as the ‘School of London’ in the mid 1950s.  London's East End and the post-war destruction of the City and neighbourhoods so familiar to him became a focus for his work, alongside powerful portraits of friends and family as subject.  Kossoff represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 1995 and was the subject of a retrospective at the Tate Gallery in 1996. Kossoff is regarded as one of the most important British artists of his time and his work is held in major public collections and museums worldwide.

Xavier Hufkens: “Kossoff’s artistic legacy is a testament to the power of raw emotion. His extraordinary practice, which captured a profound human connection, has had a lasting impact that will endure for generations to come. I look forward to contributing to the continued appreciation and understanding of Kossoff’s artistic vision, affirming his rightful place among the greats of our time.”
