Testifying to the artist’s enduring fascination with hand-made materials, the exhibition will showcase Holmwood's investigation into black and blue pigments, thoughtfully negotiating the historical narratives of these plant-based dyes, marked by piracy, colonialism, and the toil of enslaved labourers. In doing so, it breathes new life and vitality into these colors, offering a fresh perspective and a profound reimagining of their significance. The exhibition is supported by the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation.
